Proximity to Male trades directly against atoll quiet: North and South Male atolls (Patina, Ritz-Carlton, Gili Lankanfushi, Waldorf Astoria) keep transfers short, while Noonu, Baa, and Laamu (Soneva Jani, Cheval Blanc Randheli, Velaa, Soneva Fushi, Six Senses Laamu) trade a longer seaplane or domestic flight for a less trafficked reef. Neither trade is a downgrade; it depends on whether the transfer itself is part of the trip’s appeal or simply a cost to minimise.
